HENDERSON TO HOST 10th ANNUAL OFF-ROAD RACE, DECEMBER 2-3
For the 10th straight year, thousands of off-road enthusiasts will gather in Henderson for the TransWest Ford Henderson 250 Desert Race. Just one of many championship sporting events hosted in the premier destination, the annual Best In The Desert sanctioned competition is scheduled for December 2-3, 2011. It will attract over 20,000 people from states such as Utah, California, Arizona and New Mexico to Southern Nevada to experience incredible off-road racing action. As the final race of the year, this event will determine an overall series winner in 13 different classes, from professionals to amateurs. Admission is complimentary for spectators.

The City of Henderson announced the winners of this weekend’s Heritage Parade, which was held Saturday, April 16. Over 60 entries, from marching groups to special interest vehicles, equestrian entries and floats, competed to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in four categories. Cash prizes were awarded to floats, courtesy of several community partners, while marching group, equestrian and special interest vehicle category winners received ribbons.

The City of Henderson has selected Ethel M Chocolates, who is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, as the honorary grand marshal for the 2011 Henderson Heritage Parade, Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m. The local manufacture will be recognized for their history of dedicated service, for being an active community partner, conservationist and unique attraction in Henderson. ST. BALDRICKS FOUNDATION TO SERVE AS ST. PATRICKS DAY PARADE GRAND MARSHAL
The Southern Nevada Sons of Erin selected the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to raising money for childhood cancer research, as the honorary grand marshal for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. in Henderson. The charity will lead the procession down a mile-long route on Water Street, from Ocean Avenue to Victory Road.

The City of Henderson will host its annual Heritage Parade & Festival, a celebration of the City’s 58-year history, rich traditions and community spirit, Saturday, April 16 from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. The event, which falls on the actual date of the official incorporation of Henderson, will include a Mayor & Council breakfast, parade, festival and car show. Admission is complimentary.
