September 30, 2008 SINGING NUN FROM SISTER ACT PERFORMS IN HENDERSON Darlene Koldenhoven, the beloved tambourine-waving choir nun in both Sister Act films, will showcase her vocal talents with an intimate concert at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. September 29, 2008 RECORD TURNOUT FOR SUPER RUN CLASSIC CAR SHOW The City of Henderson hosted the 9th annual Super Run Classic Car this past weekend boasting a record turnout of car entries and attendees. Over 1,300 vintage vehicles, street rods and muscle cars were displayed in the Water Street District in downtown Henderson and over 130,000 people from across the nation attended the four-day event.

September 15, 2008 FROM ACTRESS TO MUSICIAN: KATEY SAGAL DEBUTS SINGING TALENTS AT A FREE CONCERT IN HENDERSON Best known for her role on the hit comedy series Married…With Children, sitcom diva and singer/songwriter Katey Sagal retraces her first love of music with an exclusive concert on Friday, October 17 at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. September 09, 2008 A LITTLE BIT OF COUNTRY, A LITTLE BIT OF ROCK & ROLL: SUPER RUN CLASSIC CAR SHOW ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP REVEALED The City of Henderson Cultural Arts & Tourism Department is pleased to announce that country music star Keith Anderson and oldies sensation The Grass Roots will be the headlining acts during the Super Run Classic Car Show, scheduled for September 25-28 in the Water Street District in Henderson. September 02, 2008 “WHOSE LIVE ANYWAY” TO PERFORM AT THE HENDERSON PAVILION The improv comedy show, “Whose Live Anyway,” performs at the Henderson Pavilion, located at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, on Saturday, October 11 at 8 p.m. Ticket prices for this show range from $25 to $45.

September 02, 2008 ROCKIN’ BLUES MUSIC FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS MUSIC FROM EVERY ERA The Rockin’ Blues Music Festival will celebrate its 3rd anniversary with an assortment of live concerts by award-winning acts that represent several genres of music including rock & roll, blues, country and jazz. Some of the headlining performers showcased are Michael Burks, Yellow Brick Road, Jessica Andrews and the Rock & Roll Dance Party. August 26, 2008 HO’OLAULE’A FESTIVAL SHOWCASES THE SOUNDS OF THE PACIFIC ISLANDS As one of the largest Hawaiian celebrations in Southern Nevada, the 18th annual Prince Jonah Kuhio Ho’olaule’a Pacific Islands Festival will feature a mixture of award-winning musical performances by local and national acts including The Brothers Kaloku & Keawe, Mikioi, Ho’omanawanui and Vaihi. August 14, 2008 “THE FINAL RIOT! - PARAMORE SUMMER TOUR ‘08” HUGE SUCCESS AT THE HENDERSON PAVILION On July 29th the Henderson Pavilion, located at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, hosted “The Final RIOT! – Paramore Summer Tour ‘08” sponsored by the House of Blues and Live Nation. As one of the most successful rentals, the concert was a near sell out and featured Jack’s Mannequin, Paper Route and punk-pop quartet Paramore.

Featuring thousands of flashy street machines, hot rods, motorcycles and classic cars of yesteryears, the three-day nostalgic extravaganza is FREE for spectators.

April 03, 2008 INTERNATIONAL FOOD & FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL MOVES TO HENDERSON After more than 30 years in Las Vegas, the International Food & Folklife Festival moves to Henderson. The event, which celebrates diverse cultures found in Southern Nevada, joins the celebrations of the annual Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival on Saturday, April 19. The festival will be held in the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water Street, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

March 18, 2008 CITY OF HENDERSON HOSTS ANNUAL HERITAGE PARADE & FESTIVAL The annual Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival will take place on Saturday, April 19 in the Water Street District in Henderson from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The community-wide event, which allows residents to celebrate 55 years of Henderson’s heritage and vitality, features a pancake breakfast, parade and the International Food & Folklife Festival.

Ahlstedt will be honored at a public ceremony on Thursday, March 27 from 6-9 p.m. at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, located at 800 S. Brush Street in Las Vegas. Tickets are $40.

March 10, 2008 NORM JOHNSON TO BE FEATURED ARTIST FOR 11th ANNUAL ARTFEST OF HENDERSON Local icon Norm Johnson, best known for his award-winning journalism and the founder of the Mint 400 Off-Road Desert Race, has recently turned his focus on sculpting. To commemorate his new-found passion, the City of Henderson will recognize Johnson as one of the featured artists at the 11th annual ArtFestTM of Henderson, May 10-11 in the Water Street District in downtown Henderson. Johnson’s sculptures will be on display from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

March 03, 2008 SOPHIE MILMAN RETURNS TO HENDERSON Jazz singing sensation, Sophie Milman returns to the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water Street, on Friday, April 11 at 7 p.m. Milman will debut material from her much-anticipated new album, Make Someone Happy.

February 26, 2008 THE SCINTAS & ELLIE SMITH TO SERVE AS GRAND MARSHALS FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE, MARCH 15 The City of Henderson Cultural Arts & Tourism Department in conjunction with the Southern Nevada Sons of Erin announced that The Scintas and 11-year-old singer Ellie Smith will serve as the grand marshals for the 42nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. in downtown Henderson.

February 25, 2008 CITY OF HENDERSON HOSTS AUDITIONS FOR “THE PIED PIPER” The City of Henderson Cultural Arts & Tourism Department will host auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “The Pied Piper”. Two auditions will be held for children, kindergarten through 12th grade at various locations in Henderson.

February 21, 2008 TERESA TESTA TO BE FEATURED AT 11th ANNUAL ARTFEST OF HENDERSON Local art teacher and porcelain sculptor Teresa Testa has been selected to be an honorary featured artist at this year’s ArtFestTM of Henderson, which celebrates its 11th anniversary on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 in the Water Street District in downtown Henderson. Testa’s artwork will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
